With all of the development between Route 355 and I-270 in the last few years, even longtime residents may not have been able to keep up with Gaithersburg’s many new bars and restaurants. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill on Spectrum Avenue is one of these new establishments, and it’s well on its way to becoming a local favorite.
This smart-casual bar and grill splits the difference between high-end steakhouses and the casual family restaurants you might find in shopping center plazas. As the restaurant’s name suggests, the menu is centered on food from the kitchen’s wood-fired grill—steaks, seafood, ribs and chicken, particularly. You can also find salads, soups, and sandwiches, and a selection of happy hour snacks that draw significant praise on sites like Yelp. Specialty cocktails, draft beers, and fine wines are also deeply discounted on weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. at the bar and on the outdoor patio.
